DISCORD PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: March 25, 2026
This policy covers the Layup Sports Discord bot ("the Bot") operated by Layup Inc. It does not apply to the Layup mobile app or website — those are covered by our separate Privacy Policy.
What We Collect
When the Bot joins your server, we store your server's Discord ID, server name, and the server owner's Discord ID. We need these to set up and deliver alerts.
When a server admin runs /layup add, we store the channel ID, a webhook URL for that channel, and whatever sport, league, team, and alert type preferences were selected. Running /layup remove deletes that feed configuration.
If someone sends a message in the #layup-support channel that the Bot creates during setup, we relay that message — including any attachments — to our internal support thread so our team can respond. We also relay our responses back to your server. The Bot does not read messages in any other channel.
When you interact with a slash command, Discord sends us your Discord user ID and username as part of the interaction payload. We log this for debugging purposes.
What We Don't Collect
The Bot does not collect email addresses, real names, phone numbers, IP addresses, device information, location data, or any financial information. We don't read direct messages. We don't access message content outside of the #layup-support channel. We don't track how you use Discord or build profiles about server members.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data described above for four purposes:
- Delivering sports alerts to the channels you've configured
- Routing support conversations between your server and our team
- Remembering your feed preferences so you don't have to reconfigure them
- Diagnosing errors when something breaks
That's it. We don't use your data for advertising, marketing, or analytics.
Third-Party Services
SportsDataIO provides the game scores, player statistics, and market data that the Bot delivers. When we call their API, we send sport-specific queries (like "NBA games on March 25"). We don't send them any Discord information — no server IDs, no user IDs, no channel data, nothing about your server.
Discord operates the platform the Bot runs on. Discord's own Privacy Policy governs the data Discord collects about you. We interact with Discord's API to send messages, create channels, and manage webhooks.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS RDS, encrypted at rest and in transit. Operational logs go to AWS CloudWatch and are retained for 30 days.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. There's no third-party analytics or tracking embedded in the Bot.
Data Retention and Deletion
Feed configurations created with /layup add persist until you delete them with /layup remove or the Bot is removed from your server. If the Bot is removed, your server's configuration becomes inactive but isn't automatically deleted from our database.
To request complete deletion of all data associated with your server, email support@trylayup.com with your Discord server ID. We'll confirm deletion within 7 business days.
Support channel messages are retained in our internal threads for service quality purposes.
Children
The Bot is not directed at anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your Rights
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to know what data we hold about you, request its deletion, and request a copy. Since the Bot only stores Discord identifiers and sports preferences — not personal information like names or emails — most requests are straightforward. Email support@trylayup.com and we'll handle it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we'll post an announcement in the #layup-support channel on connected servers. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
